With just 3 days to go until one of the most highly anticipated events of the year, multi award-winning musician, Cassper Nyovest, has announced that King Monada will be performing at #FillUpMosesMabhida this Saturday, 1 December 2018, at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Cassper Nyovest has constantly alluded that the line-up revealed earlier this month might not be the final line-up of the night. Yesterday’s announcement of the addition of King Monada to the line-up has social media buzzing about what to expect on the night.

King Monada will join Cassper Nyovest on stage at #FillUpMosesMabhida alongside highly esteemed artists such as the likes of D’Banj, Babes Wodumo, Mahotella Queens, Shwi Nomtekhala, Black Motion, Okmalumkoolkat, Nadia Nakai and Sjava, just to highlight a few.

The Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards (MKHMA) held their third annual music ceremony on the 24th of November at the Big Top Arena in Carnival City.

Devastating news rocked the awards when radio and TV personality, Bonginkosi “Zola” Dlamini pulled out as the host for the awards in 2018; the organisers had to soldier on to find a replace for the self-funded music awards show. The number 1 knox man, Sibusiso “DJ Sbu” Leope was the host for the awards on the night and contributed to the success of the show, despite the challenges artist’s faced, we continue to celebrate and honour Kwaito and House musicians in South Africa.

The lovely Mpho Tshabalala, wife of late Kwaito artist Mandoza, was in attendance and could not believe it when she received an award in the Best Kwaito Song of 1996-2000 for Mandoza’s hit song Nkalankatha. The Best Gqom Artist category was included in 2018 and the first artist to walk away with this award was Zinhle Ngidi who also contributed on the vocals of Shumaya. Busiswa walked away with the Best House Artist award as well as the Best House Single Album for her 2018 hit song, Bazoyenza. She also took to the stage with her dancers to excite the crowd with their dance moves as she performed her popular tracks to a roaring crowd.

2018 nominees, Trompies and Mshoza would have stolen the show with their electric performances on the night but the crowd were unable to contain themselves when MKHMA CEO, Ms Perfecta Khumalo and Mr Hlaudi Motsoeneng stole the show when they came on stage to award Doc Shebeleza with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Kwaito and the music industry in its entirety. Mr Motsoeneng went on to say that he would have pushed for the 3rd annual Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards to be broadcast live on TV had he still been at the SABC.

Rapper Big Zulu arrested for assaulting his lover

Rapper Big Zulu, whose real name is Siyabonga Nene was recently arrested for allegedly physically assaulting his girlfriend and mother of his two-year-old daughter.

According to SowetanLIVE, Big Zulu grabbed his partner by the throat and threw her on the floor three times at their rented flat in Newtown, Johannesburg.

Speaking to Sunday World, the victim who cannot be named, told the publication that it was the first time the rapper laid his hands on her.

“The problem started two weeks ago when I confronted him. He was sitting outside with his friends and two girls. I called him to the side and asked him who the girls were. That was not the first time [I found him hanging around with strange women]. I asked him because I needed to know why he keeps doing that and disregarding my feelings. He got aggressive but that time he walked away,” she said.

She further told the publication that she had been battling depression which was made worse by the abusive situation. As a result, she attempted suicide by trying to overdose on pills with alcohol.

“I sent him a message to tell him it was not worth it anymore, however, he rushed home and found me before I overdosed on the pills,” she said.

RapidLion seals a three-way partnership to bring the renowned Shortcutz Amsterdam to The Bioscope in Johannesburg

An exciting partnership forged in the run up to the 2019 edition of RapidLion – The South African International Film Festival will see the Dutch-based international short film initiative Shortcutz Amsterdam hold its first screenings at The Bioscope in Johannesburg this December.

Shortcutz Amsterdam showcases Dutch films from rising filmmakers via its weekly sessions based at the Arts Society De Kring in Amsterdam.

A jury made up of respected names in the Dutch and European film industries judges all films screened at Shortcutz Amsterdam in order to select the best monthly films. The second Annual DStv Mzansi Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards were held at the Sandton Convention Center last night. The event was hosted by media personality Bonang Matheba who introduced some of popular SA’s stars to present the 13 awards.

Tbo Touch To Make Screen Debut In New Movie

Entrepreneur Thabo Molefe, better known as Tbo Touch, is set to make his big screen debut when he stars in the movie “Blessers”.

He will be doubling up in a supporting role and executive producer.

According to IOL, the local film will see the acting debut of the king of the airwaves, starring alongside some of Mzansi’s crème de la crème which includes Connie Chiume of Black Panther, Sonia Sedibe of Generations fame and the legendary actor and producer Kenneth Nkosi.

The comedy-drama movie takes viewers through the lives of the wealthy couple, Jacob Mofokeng played by Nkosi and his gorgeous wife Michelle, played by Sedibe, and their narcissist daughter Natasha, played by the young film student and starlet Six Nyamane.

A partnership between Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN), MTV Staying Alive Foundation, Unitaid and the London School of Hygiene and tropical medicine has brought back season 2 of the much loved MTV Shuga Down South.

sapositivenews.com has revealed that the cast of the new season sees the return of some of season 1 cast members such as Thuso Mbedu and Jemima Osunde of MTV Shuga Naija.

The first season aired in 2017 and season 2 is coming on February 12, 2019. “The movement was created out of a passionate and purpose driven vision”, said VIMN Africa’s Communications Director Fatima Beckham. “The 3 year partnership has been created to introduce and evaluate story-lines on HIV innovation including HIV self testing and preventative drugs into the award winning MTV drama series Shuga”, she added.

Media personality Ayanda Thabethe has confirmed that she and Zulu Mkhathini (formerly known as Dash) have ended their relationship. This comes after weeks of speculations.

Last week at the Feather Awards, Somizi Mhlongo hinted about their break-up and tried to get Dash to collect the award in her absence. On Monday in an impromptu Q&A Ayanda hosted on her Insta Stories on Monday, she confirmed their split.

“I’m single again. I’ll always think the world of him,” she said after a fan asked about the status of her relationship.

She went on to say: “I’m not looking. I believe life will bring at the right time. I’m not in a rush either. I love a guy that is secure in himself and his self worth, honest, humble and kind. One who is hard working, ambitious, family orientated, adventurous and God fearing.”
