Leanne Manas at Siyabulela Primary School

It’s been a very busy past few weeks for the likes of Connie Ferguson, Zenande Mfenyane, Dineo Ranaka, Lalla Hirayama, Letshego Zulu, Thembi Seete, Ayanda Thabethe, Leanne Manas, Brent “Good Things Guy” Lindeque, Shona Ferguson and Heather Hook – who are all part of the #KrushGoodness Krew.

They’ve been heading around the country delivering school shoes to children in need as part of the #KrushGoodness project. The project has officially come to an end with Leanne Manas and Brent “Good Things Guy” Lindeque having visited the final school in the Western Cape – concluding the delivery of the 20 000 school shoes for 2019.

Leanne Manas opens up shortly after her school visit to Siyabulela Primary School in the Western Cape.

What drew you to participate in the #KrushGoodness project?

I have an absolute passion for Education and anything that will assist the youth of this country rise up and become our future leaders!

What were you most looking forward to about visiting
Siyabulela Primary School?

It’s one thing supporting a charity or school from a distance; it’s a completely different story visiting the people you are helping, getting to know them, understanding their circumstances, feeling their pain and joy and then offering them love and a helping hand where you can.

What, for you, is the biggest importance of helping our communities and children in particular?

If we don’t help, who will? We cannot rely on governments to do everything – we need to step up and get involved ourselves. There are certain things where we can make a difference and become active participants in community development and upliftment.

Are you involved with any other community or CSI initiatives personally?

If so, are there ways for others to get involved as well?

I am an Ambassador for the UNHCR and travel the continent to refugee camps, highlighting the plight of the growing refugee crises and helping where I can.
Anyone interested in getting involved can visit  www.luquluqu.org or www.unhcr.org

What is the one piece of advice you have for young fans of yours?

You are the creator of your own destiny. You need to rise up above your circumstances with an attitude that says “I am bigger than this and no-one is going to stop me from achieving my dreams!”

What does the rest of 2019 hold for you?

I’m optimistic that this year is going to come with a lot of changes, some challenges and a couple
of hills to climb. But I do believe once I reach the top of those Summits the view is going to be incredible!
