Smash Afrika joins 5FM

5FM has announced that Afrika Mdutyulwa better known to his massive following as Smash Afrika will be joining the station. Smash Afrika joined Ryan The Dj and will be on air weekday nights as from 1st of April. This will be between 19:00 and 22:00 Monday to Thursday.

Beginning with campus radio, he made his name at YFM in 2013 when he co-hosted En Route 6 with Tholi B. In 2015 he hosted his own show, Point of Order, which was on weekdays from 03:00 to 06:00.

In the show on 5M, he will be joined by producer Given Baloyi.

“Talk about a dream come true! I have always wanted to work at 5FM and finally it’s happening,” Smash said in a press statement. “Words can’t begin to describe the emotions, but I will express them on every show once I get started,” he expressed himself.

5FM also announced that acclaimed and revered Ultimix resident Ryan the DJ has been offered his own show on the station, taking over the Saturday night 19:00 – 22:00 Weekender5 show from 5FM’s PH who will sadly be leaving the station to focus on his very busy DJ and production work.

Nhlanhla Gumede who goes by the stage name Franky Nutz is a recording artist, song writer and music Producer and from eMbalenhle in the South African province of Mpumalanga. Having grown in a musical family, his passion for music and performance started at an early age. As a young boy Franky performed on numerous platforms as a member of his high school music group, Ghetto Poets.

After a few hurdles and life challenges, Franky registered a holdings company under the name Duffel Bag Group (DBG) which would be an umbrella company to various entrepreneurial and community development projects. DBG is now home to an assembly of young gifted Mpumalanga performing artists.

Thandiswa, who is best known as King Tha is turning 42-years-old on the 31st of March and she wants to be surrounded by all her sisters to celebrate her birthday with her at the Newtown Music Factory.

“I’m inviting my sisters to a women only gig on my birthday in celebration of their resilience and strength. It is an attempt to strengthen the sisterhood and together imagine new worlds. We will come together in one space to celebrate our unique power,” said Thandiswa Mazwai.
