Auditions for the upcoming ninth season of the popular reality show Tropika Island Of Treasure are well underway and this year, things are a little bit different. After competing in the Maldives last season, contestants will be jetting off to the Caribbean island of Curaçao and, for the first time ever, auditions are being held entirely online – making it easier for anyone around the country to enter the popular reality show and compete for their share of fame and fortune. But, what are celebrity contestants Nadia Jaftha, Siphesihle Vazi and Bouwer Bosch looking for in their teammates?

Social media influencer Nadia Jaftha says that she is looking for three key components in her partner, namely positivity, resilience and strength. “I need a positive person because I’m going for the win and need a team mate that’s going to match my energy to the finish line,” Nadia says. “I need someone resilient who won’t give up on me because I am all about persevering to the end, and I need someone strong both physically and mentally.”
Meanwhile, actor and presenter Siphesihle Vazi says that his teammate should be someone confident. “I need to be able to rely on my partner. We need to build a level of trust because we need to work together to win challenges on the island. I am also looking for someone who is quick on their feet and they must be able to catch up with me. Someone who has great hand-eye coordination is also essential – because that’s not one of my strengths.”
Finally, musician and actor Bouwer Bosch is looking for someone he can have fun with during the challenges on the island while also being able to clinch wins. “It’s not all about winning the whole time,” Bouwer says. “But, when your attitude is right, the rest will fall into place. I want to enjoy myself on the island with someone who also has the gift of endurance as well as mental strength. I need someone on my team who won’t buckle under pressure – because if you’ve seen Tropika Island Of Treasure before, there’s going to be a whole lot of pressure during challenges!”
People across South Africa dreaming of joining their favourite celebs in the tropical island paradise of Curaçao need to buy a promotional pack of Tropika and follow the instructions on pack. Following this, they need to record a short video (not longer than one minute) showing the #TIOT9 team what they’ve got and describing how they will out smoooth their competitors on Tropika Island of Treasure Curaçao. Submission of audition videos can be done in one of three ways:

From all auditions submitted, only six contestants will be chosen to compete on #TIOT9 and will join host, Katlego Maboe, and celebrities Simphiwe Ngema, Kay Sibiya, Nadia Japhta, Siphesihle Vazi, Ntando Duma and Bouwer Bosch on the island. Celebs and contestants will be flying in style to Curaçao with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, ensuring the start of their adventure is nothing but smoooth.
