South Africa mourns the loss of celebrated comedian and actor Ebenhaezer Dibakwane, who passed away on March 7, 2025, at the age of 31.

He subsequently won a second Savanna Comics’ Choice Award for Intermediate Comedian of The Year.
Born in 1994, Dibakwane emerged as a prominent voice among South Africa’s “Born Free” generation of comedians. He gained national recognition after winning the Newcomer Award at the 6th annual Savanna Comic’s Choice Awards in 2016. His unique comedic style and off-the-wall humor endeared him to audiences nationwide.
In addition to his stand-up career, Dibakwane showcased his versatility as an actor. He made his television acting debut with a guest role in the e.tv soapie “Ashes to Ashes” in 2015. He also presented “Walala Wasala” on SABC1 and appeared in productions such as “Divorced at 50,” “Real Estate Sisters,” and the Netflix series “Miseducation.”
His management team, Pickledginger Entertainment Agency, expressed their sorrow in a statement: “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of celebrated comedian, actor, and writer Ebenhaezer Dibakwane. A friend to so many, he will be remembered for his off-the-wall humour and original style of stand-up comedy.”

Ebenhaezer Dibakwane’s contribution to South African comedy and entertainment will be fondly remembered, and his absence deeply felt.
